Speaker:  The Honorable Elizabeth L. Perris of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Oregon

Judge Perris spoke with our group regarding the bankruptcy rules and proposed changes in 2014.  This was an informative meeting and we appreciate Judge Perris taking time to speak to our group regarding this important topic.

MaryAnn provided the group with garnishment rules and her tips and tricks related to navagating the often confusing world of garnishments.   The topic was entitled “Garnishments – Rules and Tips by MaryAnn Ivie, RP”.  We discussed the procedures for garnishments and common challenges.

Speakers:  Jeanne Sinnott and Cody Elliott of Miller Nash LLP

We held our first quarterly meeting in several years at the law offices of Cosgrave Vergeer Kester.  The topic was entitled “Real Estate Foreclosures in the Commercial Context”.  We went over the basics of foreclosures in a commercial context and particular situations to watch out for.  We also touched on the Niday v. GMAC Mortgage, LLC ruling and how that affects deeds of trust where Mortgage Electronic Registration Systems, Inc. (MERS), is listed as the beneficiary.
