Political Activities and Lobbying rules for organizations exempt from taxation under IRC 501(c)(3). Each presidential election year many 501(c)(3) nonprofits begin exploring the rules and restrictions on political and lobbying activities for their organization. Many nonprofits are surprised to learn the many intricacies of these rules and restrictions and the harsh penalties that result from violations. In this CLE we will discuss the general rules and restrictions on political activities and lobbying for 501(c)(3) organizations.

Speaker: David Williamson, Esq.

David served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Lauren Holland and then for the Honorable Karsten Rasmussen in the Lane County Circuit Court. Following these clerkships, David worked for Heltzel Williams P.C., a premiere business law firm in Salem, Oregon, and then for the Center for Nonprofit Law in Eugene, Oregon, a boutique firm specializing in all aspects of nonprofit and tax-exempt law.  David’s practice focuses on all aspects of business law concerning for-profit and nonprofit entities including but not limited to entity formation, tax exemption and general tax law, employment law, real estate, and transactional law.
