Administrative Law at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office - CLE
Join Ryan Frei for a presentation about administrative law and how it shapes legal practice at administrative agencies. He will discuss how Constitutional limits on executive agencies shape their functions, how the Administrative Procedure Act relates to administrative proceedings, and what the administrative law cases before the Supreme Court this term might mean for the practice of law going forward. Ryan is a patent litigation attorney at Klarquist Sparkman and will particularly highlight the effects that administrative law has on the practice of patent law.

Presenter Bio: Ryan’s practice focuses on all aspects of intellectual property law, with a primary emphasis on litigation. He holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Oregon’s Institute of Molecular Biology, as well as a B.S. in Physics from Brigham Young University. Prior to joining Klarquist, he handled litigation and patent counseling matters at a prominent national firm.
Ryan has litigated cases involving technologies in the life sciences, pharmaceutical, medical device, semiconductor, and mobile device industries. He has represented clients before federal district courts, the International Trade Commission, and the Federal Circuit, and has participated in matters before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
